Elmhurst History Museum's
Graveside Stories Cemetery Walk
GreenMan Theatre Troupe is pleased to be partnering again with the Elmhurst History Museum in their presentation of Graveside Stories Cemetery Walk. GreenMan will audition and rehearse with the actors who will be performing as people from Elmhurst’s past. GreenMan will also help to augment costuming for the show.
Cemetery Walks will take place during the daytime on October 15th and 16th in St. Peter and St. Mary cemetery (310 Alexander St.), and auditions will take place on Sunday, August 21 at 2pm and Monday, August 22 at 7pm at the First United Methodist Church of Elmhurst, 232 S York. To sign up for an audition slot please email firstname.lastname@example.org. For Walk-up auditions please arrive no later than 3pm on August 21 or 8pm on August 22. Auditions will consist of readings from the script, the sides will be provided before auditions via email to those who sign up or as cold readings for walk up.
Some rehearsals will take place via Zoom, some in person. I anticipate 1 to 2 rehearsals each week but can schedule additional if the actors need help with memorization and/or character work. There will be a mandatory tech performance run thru on the weekend of October 8th / 9th.
On performance days tours will walk thru the cemetery, stopping at each character's grave to hear their story. The actors will perform their solo or duo piece for each tour - several times each day.
Actors will need to
* memorize their story to perform without prompting during the performance. No improvisation is permitted.
* focus on projection (being loud and articulate!)
* be able to stand/move for the duration of their story each time it is performed. (a chair can be brought for sitting in between performances)
