GreenMan Theatre announces the season schedule
for its eleventh season in 2014-15.
The season opens with the annual event Spooky Stories and Songs of the Season. This evening of a variety of chilling tales and songs is a result of a storytelling class led by Carolyn Thomas-Davidoff, who also directs the show, which will run for three performances on October 10 & 11 & 21, 2014.
The next production will be a new adaptation of Mary Shelley's classic horror novel Frankenstein.
Local playwright and GreenMan Theatre member Cory Sandrock has adapted this gothic tale of Dr. Frankenstein and his attempts to create life from death and the tragic events that follow. The production will run for 3 weekends from October 24-November 9, 2014.
The third production of the 2014-15 season will be an original script by Carolyn Thomas-Davidoff dealing with a man, a lovely lady, their six kids after their marriage, and murder. A Very ᴃGrady Murder spoofs that classic television show The Brady Brunch and adds a homicidal twist. The production is GreenMan's dinner theatre murder mystery fundraiser held at Angelo's Ristorante in Elmhurst. It runs for only 5 performances from February 20-March 1, 2015.
The season continues with the farce Cash on Delivery! by Michael Cooney. The production deals with
Eric Swan (aided by his Uncle George and unbeknownst to his wife), who has pocketed thousands of pounds through fraudulent DSS claims. When Norman, his tenant, opens the door to Mr. Jenkins, the DSS Inspector, hilarity follows, as do the undertaker, bereavement counselor, psychiatrist, Norman's fiance, a corpse, the ominous Ms. Cowper, and a rather rebellious washing machine! The show is a full-on farce, complete with slamming doors, dead bodies, bald-faced lies, mistaken identities, and men dressing as women. It will run for 9 performances from April 17-May 3, 2015.
The 2014-15 season will close with the Showcase production of William Shakespeare's timeless comedy A Midsummer Night's Dream. It portrays the events surrounding the marriage of the Duke of Athens, Theseus, and Hippolyta. These include the adventures of four young Athenian lovers and a group of six amateur actors, who are controlled and manipulated by the fairies who inhabit the forest in which most of the play is set. The play is one of Shakespeare's most popular works for the stage and is widely performed across the world. The production will be held at an outdoor venue from June 12-21, 2015.
