Storytellers of GreenMan Theatre Troupe
Annual Storytelling Class
Spectacular Season 18 begins in August with our Annual Storytelling Class, taught by Carolyn Thomas-Davidoff. The class series will meet on August 7th, 14th and 28th and will feed into the rehearsals for Spooky Stories and Songs of the Season for those interested in performing.
(This class will be socially distanced and will be held outdoors, in doors, online or a mix of the formats, depending upon weather, and the state guidelines in early August.) The most probable location is Debbie Proska's lovely backyard. (This is about 10 minutes west of our regular GreenMan home, in the First United Methodist Church of Elmhurst. Address will be provided when you register for class) Our "bad weather" location would be upstairs in a large, well ventilated room that has windows that open at the Methodist Church, 232 South York, St.,Elmhurst.
Elmhurst, IL – GreenMan Theatre will offer a Storytelling class starting August 7. This is a three-session class that will then transition into a show called “Spooky Stories and Songs of the Season” for performances in October. Students interested in the class do not have to participate in the October performances, if they choose not to do so. The class will meet Saturdays August 7, 14, and 28th at 10:30 am for a two-hour session. Cost of the class is $25 for GreenMan members and $30 for non-members. (Memberships will be available for the 2020-2021 season.)
Makeup classes can be arranged for students who may miss one of the sessions. Due to the ongoing restrictions for in-person meetings, the class will be meeting either online, outdoors with masks, or a combination of the two. The class is geared to all levels, beginners to advanced. Interested participants can reserve a spot or ask questions by contacting the theatre at 630-464-2646 or the teacher at thomdav@comcast.net.
In the class, students will learn about telling a variety of story types, including Traditional Tales, Literary Tales, Personal Stories, and Urban Legends. The class will focus on "spooky stories" because after the class is over, interested participants will transition into rehearsals which will lead to the performance of “Spooky Stories and Songs of the Season,” which is scheduled to be presented by GreenMan Theatre October 8 - 9. Performances of "Spooky Stories" may be held outdoors or online, depending on best safety measures this fall. Additional performance opportunities may be available. Students do not have to perform in the show to attend the class. The director reserves the right to decide if each student is ready to perform.
