Miss Holmes
By Christopher M. Walsh. Based on characters by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
September 20 - October 6, 2024; auditions July 21 & 22.
Director: Becca Easley
When an anonymous note sends a newlywed wife looking for help, Miss Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Dorothy Watson work together to uncover the secrets surrounding a corrupt police inspector whose wives have a habit of turning up dead. But this Holmes and Watson face far greater challenges than bringing the cunning criminal to justice. Miss Holmes possesses one of the greatest deductive minds of her generation, but she chafes at the restraints imposed upon her by society and family. Dr. Watson struggles to make a difference at the only hospital in London that will hire female doctors. In a time and place where gender roles are rigidly defined, these unconventional women dare to challenge societal norms by providing an unusual, but necessary, service. Inspired by the works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, this theatrical fan fiction shines a new light on favorite characters from the canon, re-examining the Victorian world of Holmes and Watson by exploring the added obstacles faced by these two iconic characters if they were women. Auditions will be held July 21 and 22. More info here.

The Cover of Life
by R.T. Robinson
November 15 - 24, 2024
Director: Jayne Furlong
Tood, Weetsie, and Sybill are brides in rural Louisiana, each married to a Cliffert brother and living under their mother-in-law's roof. Their men are off to war and a local news article about these young wives attracts the attention of American magazine magnate Henry Luce. He decides they belong on the cover of Life Magazine and assigns Kate Miller, a war correspondent, to the story. Though she views doing a “women's piece” as a career setback, she accepts her first cover story and embarks on a greater journey than she anticipates. Kate's perspective shifts during her week with the Cliffert women, challenging her urban attitudes and confronting her own vulnerabilities in a male-dominated world. Filled with charm, heartache, and hope, The Cover of Life is a deeply affecting story about the struggle for self-worth.

Bach at Leipzig
by Itamar Moses
May 2 - 18, 2024
Director: David Soria
Leipzig, Germany — 1722. Johann Kuhnau, revered organist of the Thomaskirche, suddenly dies, leaving his post vacant. The town council invites musicians to audition for the coveted position, among them young Johann Sebastian Bach. In an age where musicians depend on patronage from the nobility or the church to pursue their craft, the post at a prominent church in a cultured city is a near guarantee of fame and fortune -which is why some of the candidates are willing to resort to any lengths to secure it. BACH AT LEIPZIG is a fugue-like farcical web of bribery, blackmail, and betrayal set against the backdrop of Enlightenment questions about humanity, God, and art.
