In Memoriam
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of GreenMan Theatre Troupe Board member, James E. Ocasek.
Jim was connected to GreenMan from its founding and served on the GreenMan Board from 2005 until the time of his passing. He served as Vice-President from 2006-2015 and as President from 2015-2022. He worked on numerous shows as technical director, scenic and lighting designer, beginning in the theatre's first season with "The Fantasticks."
Jim also led many other projects behind the scenes, using his legal expertise to review and negotiate contracts for the theatre, representing GreenMan before local grant committees, and leading efforts to improve GreenMan's technical capabilities. He always worked hard to strengthen the organization, to make GreenMan's shows as professional as possible, and to provide a great experience for all of the many GreenMan volunteers, on- and off-stage.
To say he will be missed is an understatement. All we can do is to thank him again for his great friendship, his deep love of theatre, and his steadfast dedication to the group.
Visitation Thursday, November 30, 2023 at St. Giles Church, 1045 Columbian Ave. Oak Park, IL from 9:30am until the time of the funeral mass at 10:30am.
